Happy Birthday Allison!
DOB 3/1/2002
We miss you so much....
It is with a heavy heart the we add this update.
Our greatest hero Allison is now an Angel.
Allison passed to be with the Lord on Friday afternoon January 25th, 2008 after a quick fight with what we believe to be a massive infection. She did not suffer this time as she had in the past and is now running and playing with her friends and family already in Heaven. She passed away in my arms...
We were so blessed to have had the nearly 6 years that we had to see her beautiful smile, contagious laugh and those beautiful blue eyes. Her funeral was held in Raleigh, and it was standing room only. You never expect to bury your child, and although we knew it was a possibility any day, it was the most painful day of our lives.
We thank you for your love and support and please know that with your help, we will continue to share Allison's love, her memory, and her legacy with all that need it.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Allison Hugs thru the Allison Hugs website or to Helping Horse Therapeutic Riding Program - 12200 Shooting Club Road - Raleigh, NC 27613.
"Allison Hugs" was born due to a wonderful event...which turned into a tragic event in our lives. Please read our story, share it with everyone you know. We hope that sharing our story with others will prevent anyone from ever having to endure the same pain we have.

Well, first of all let me apologize for the HUGE delay in this update! I am pretty computer savvy, but this program keeps getting updated, as does our hosting company, and man oh man!!!!
Well, where do I start???

Allison is now almost 6 and in Special Needs Kindergarten classes at a new school here in Raleigh. She is not at the same school as sissy anymore, which Brianna doesn't like. She rides a bus to school now, and really enjoys it. We had a few bumps at the beginning of the year with her being on the bus for an hour and a half each way, which she didn't care for at all! She now is picked up at about 8:20 and gets to school a little after 9. Her driver and "monitor" love her to pieces (shocker) and talk to her all the way to school, which she loves! She has 5 other classmates, all of varying levels of disabilities, but Allison seems to be the glue for all of them. We joke that she is the star student in her class! She still gets her therapies through school, which is nice.
We had a FANTASTIC holiday...she had her first Christmas in 3 years that she was awake for and not sick!!! We are unfortunately always anticipating a visit to the PICU this time of year! She did get the sniffles, which is usually how it starts out, but we have learned so much and were able to keep her "cleared out" and healthy!
The only down side to this holiday season was the passing of "Great Grandma Hammon". My Grandmother passed away after a long, amazing 96 years. She loved and adored the girls and was always worried about them...we will miss her dearly.
We had a great summer! It
was very
hot, but we still tried to get the girls to the pool as much as possible.
Brianna was on swim team and dive team this year and did GREAT! She came
in 5th in the county in diving, and placed in 4 out of 5 events she swam in the
county meet!
Brianna has always been a beautiful little girl, but she is growing up and amazing us every day. I am still trying to work on getting her to brush her HAIR every day, but that is a battle for most parents at this age!
Sean and I have taken a turn in our business lives and decided to part ways with Beijo. It was one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make, but it was one that was necessary. We put our hearts and souls into the company for over 4 years but were not happy with the direction that the new management had decided to take the company (and all that had invested so much into it). Money is a strange and evil beast!
Allison Hugs is growing as fast as the girls are...we have begun a new system of distribution where we simply send hug bags to hospitals with PICU's with a letter of who we are and how our program runs. They have information about how to receive additional bags, and this has been much easier. Although our garage is crammed with items for the bags...please keep them coming! See "hug bags" page for more information on what we are looking for.
PLEASE SEE ALLISON UPDATE PAGE FOR MORE UPDATES!!!
Thank you again for all of the support and love you have all shown us over the years. I will try and get on the updates more often!!!
If you are in the medical field and know of a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit anywhere in the country that could use our Hug Bags, please let us know!
