What is a "Hug Bag"?

A hug bag is a bag filled with hotel sized items which is then taken to the Pediatric units at local hospitals.  They are kept by the nursing staff to be given to parents who find themselves without items needed to feel comfortable.  We didn't feel comfortable leaving Allison's bedside, yet really wanted to go to the gift shop and buy a toothbrush!!!

We know that if parents are able to stay with their child, their child has a better chance of recuperation.

If you are a parent who has benefited from a Hug Bag please send us an e-mail and let us know.   We would love to hear how much you benefited, what you found most helpful and what you could have used but didn't have.  (robin@allisonhugs.org)

Bobby wrote us the following...."My name is Bobby S<>,  and my wife is Kellie. The last 9 days or so we spent at Wake Medical Center with our son Daniel. At first we were in a regular room and then we spent several days in the PICU and then back to a regular room. Daniel had RSV and was a very sick little boy. He pulled through everything just fine. While we were in PICU I was fortunate enough to receive one of your Hug Bags. It was the middle of the night and I had not left the hospital at all for several days. With your assistance I was able to freshen up a bit and felt a whole lot better. I cannot tell you how much your generous gift meant to me!! It really help my wife and myself through a very difficult time."

Thank you Bobby and Kellie for taking time to let us know that our efforts are making a difference.  We are SOOO glad Daniel is doing well!!!!

We are currently distributing Hug Bags to hospitals from North Carolina to California!

If you are a doctor or nurse and would like to receive the Hug Bags, no matter where you are....please feel free to contact us...we would love to hear from you!
